When I have the funds I am going to buy a licensed copy of Cubase 6 and use that to reprogram my songs in as it has a number of different instrument sounds and modes. Hopefully it uses a sheet music format I hope to god it is not like FL studio and its mandatory 4/4 meter.

FL Studio is a pain in the ass in terms of time signatures, but it also really one of the best DAWs out there at the moment...
The only thing I could recommend for you is Renoise if you want to get technical as hell with time signatures - but making metal with that is difficult due to laggy MIDI response. :/

I think cubase has some meter flexibility I still have to watch all of the tutorials online to make sure but it looks like it is there
